Multi Koastal Services FAQ

Have a septic system-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • 1) What is the approval process for a septic system?

It includes: site evaluation, system design, and system installation.

  • 2) How do I keep my septic system maintained?

If you don’t keep your septic system maintained, which typically involves having it pumped out every 1-5 years, you risk creating various unsanitary conditions in and around your home. These problems range from sewerage backing up into your home, foul odors in or around the tank or drain field outdoors, or the appearance of ooze and muddy conditions around the drain field or tank location. This may cause your system to fail and who wants that?

  • 3) My septic tank isn’t draining. Does that mean I need to get it pumped?

More than likely -yes!, but it could be that there is an obstruction between the drain field and the tank that needs to be cleared out. Call us today and Multi-Koastal will come out and assess your problem and recommend options to resolve the issue.

  • 4) There are large trees near my septic tank. Is that a problem?

Trees are not always problematic. The biggest issue is the root systems. Certain trees have shallow root systems, and these tend to be concerning than those with deeper root systems. Call us and we will come out and suggest solutions.

  • 5) How does a mound septic system work?

When the soil surrounding a home is not suitable for standard gravity systems, mound systems are required. Mounds are made up of layers of sand and act as a filtering drain field for the water that passes through before entering the groundwater below. Good maintenance to ensure proper functioning of these systems is highly recommended. Ask us for more info.

  • 6) Why is there water pooling around my tank?

Water pooling indicates a broken tank or pipe or a full tank. If the water seems to be coming from the top or a riser, then the tank is full. If the water is surfacing around the outside of the tank, then a crack or break is likely.

  • 7) What happens with a septic install?

In Delaware, septic system installation requires adherence to specific regulations and permits. Homeowners can obtain temporary licenses for certain aspects of the installation process, but professional expertise is generally needed. Factors like soil type, water table, and system type can vary widely. It’s best to call us for a free quote so we can assess the situation needed.
